Mason's 4th Birthday

Mason just kept telling us he wanted "Mater" for his birthday but wouldn't go into any more detail than that so we cheated and took him to Toys R Us and let him pick out his own present

 They found out he was there for his birthday so they gave him a birthday crown and a balloon.

 He ended up picking out a remote control Dusty Crop Hopper instead. We took it home and wrapped it and he was so mad that we were making him wait until the next day (his actual birthday) to open it.

 I ran out of paper so there was part of the box showing in the back and I wasn't worried about it because he already knew what it was.  Gavin just didn't think that was acceptable (he's such a perfectionist) so he "wrapped" it again with their blankets and of course scotch tape. He even taped balloons to it.

He wanted a Mater cake and I found a lot of ideas on the internet, but they never turn out how they are suppose to look, I didn't have hours to build a cake and kids don't really care about them as much as you hope/want. Raini gave me the scenery idea with a Mater toy on top and I went with it. I took me about 10 minutes and he LOVED it!! Happy Boy=Happy Mom

How To: I bought chocolate frosting (that had chips which was an accident) for the desert sand, black frosting for the road, yellow tic tacs for the stripes and I made the cactus out of green craft foam glued to toothpicks so I could stick them in the cake. I found the cars in the toyroom and viola, instant cake. 

 "My Mater cake!"
