Daddy's Week Home

Cody is gone for 2 weeks (14 days) at a time and I have decided that day 11 is my breaking point. I'm ready for my best friend to be home. I'm tired of being a single mom and not being able to go anywhere without my entourage of toddlers, tired of changing all the diapers, cleaning up all the messes and doing everything by myself and let's not forget that I get absolutely no alone time unless you count the times I'm in the bathroom "alone" with kids knocking on the door.

I keep getting asked what we do on Cody's week home. It's never the same, but here's the run down for this last week.

Sunday:
Gavin is the same way. He starts acting up around day 11, doesn't want to be a super helper anymore, wants to call his daddy all the time and starts wearing his hats. I found him on my bed in daddy's hat last Sunday night, it's always this one "the green and black deer hat".
All excited that daddy is coming home tomorrow!!

Monday:
Daddy always brings the kids home something. Gavin got a rock (what he asked for) that has a leaf fossil in it, I was even impressed. Mason and Chloe usually get cookies because that's what they love best!!

I didn't get dinner cooked before it was time to go get Cody so we went to "Festered Old Lady" (Fiesta Ole) for dinner cuz Fat Blobs (cheesy tots) were sounding good. Then we went to Reed's Dairy with Cody's family for ice cream. The kids got to see the cows, chickens, goats, sheep, and calves.

Tuesday:
Cody does not have as much patience as I do with the kids and they never keep their shoes on. He couldn't find the duct tape so electrical tape was the next best thing.

Chloe kept kicking the table and the tray (her legs are always moving) and Cody couldn't handle the noise. Silly daddy!!

That night Cody and Gavin went and got out camper from our friends house. They have lots of animals and Gavin got to milk a goat!! Cody said he was pretty shy/embarrassed to be touching the goat on it's teets, but was really excited when he figured out he could squirt people with the milk!

Wednesday:

We just mostly hung out at home and enjoyed each other's company. That night the kids went to Aunt Sadie's and Cody took me out. We went to Johnny Carino's and then to The Avengers. It was the most expensive movie I have EVER been too!! I had a ticket for a free admission, but it was too new so they wouldn't take it and the 6:30 showing we were there to see was 3D. We didn't want to go to the 7:15 because it was a school night for our sitters so we swallowed hard and paid $27.00 (big gulp) for the two of us to see the movie. No popcorn, drinks, etc included. I'm super cheap so it about killed me, but we still went and enjoyed it.

Thursday:

We loaded up the camper, got gas and groceries and headed to the mountains. Gavin was so excited. He has been wanting to go camping for months! We went to Indian Creek up by Palisades. (For more info, read next post)

Friday:

We ended up coming home early due to the rain, snow and tornado (may be exaggerating a little) that we endured while camping. The good news is we were able to go to the Temple with most of the Butikofer's for my cousin Jeremy's sealing. He was sealed to his wife Miranda and their two kids Eli and Justin. It was so amazing to be in there with so many of my relatives. One of the temple workers made the comment that the Butikofer's were taking over the temple, dang right!!!
That night we grilled some Ball Parks and corn on the cob (in the drizzling rain). Gavin loves to help Cody grill and we all love to eat what daddy's grilled!

To calm the kids down for bed Cody decided it was time for a TICKLE WAR!!
It's one of Gavin's favorite things to do with his daddy
Mason just wanted to play trucks on my leg, but then decided he wanted to join in the fun
All 3 of them ganged up on daddy. I tried to play but all Mason and Chloe wanted to do was pull my hair so I decided to sit this one out
Tickle War Champions

Saturday:

After breakfast we all ended up in the toy room and were there for over an hour just playing around.

Gavin couldn't be outdone by little sis

Mason had the bucket on his head and somehow got the handle under his chin and we had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to get it off again!! We finally did, but aren't really sure how, it just finally came off.

Saturday afternoon Cody and I took Gavin on a "date". We went to The Lorax and then to Wallace's for some ice cream.
Gavin actually got CHOCOLATE!!! He has been a vanilla dude for years. He has finally came to the dark side with his mom!!

Sunday:
We went to church and it was so nice to have help during sacrament meeting and to have Cody there with us. Then the best part was we all came home and had Sunday afternoon naps!! Cody and I haven't done that in what seems like year because one or the other of us usually has meetings/visits to do, but neither of us did, oh happy day!!

Later that afternoon we went to his parent's house for dinner with everyone and then went to some cemeteries to decorate graves. We went to Rigby to go to his Grandpa Fry's, to Milo Cemetery for some other Fry relatives and then Cody and I went to Ririe to my grandma and grandpa Blakely's graves.

Monday:

Lots of hugs, kisses and tears and we put daddy on the plane for another 2 weeks. All I have to say is I'm glad this is not a permanent arrangement!!

Preschool Graduate!!

Gavin finished Wee Scholars Preschool on May 24th.
He is sooo excited that he gets to go to Kindergarten.
Mrs. (Rebecca) Dennert, his teacher, and Gavin on the last day
Gavin with his "Diploma"

I was so impressed with his preschool. He was reading by December, can count to 100, tie his shoes, knows all his colors and shapes and a whole lot more AND they had fun while doing it!! I didn't know Mrs. Dennert was doing this (but so glad she did), but she took pictures throughout the year and then put them together in an album for the kids to bring home! I LOVE her!! and highly recommend her!!
Here are a few of the pictures.

Forget-Me-Nots

I'm way overdue for an update on the kids and since ALL THREE of them have recently gone through a major growth spurt and are all up a size in clothes here it goes!

GAVIN
 Size 6 clothes, 11 1/2 shoes
-He has once again changed his favorite colors, but for the first time in years BLACK is not on the list. It's now GREEN and BLUE.
-He is such a good big brother and a SUPER HELPER for mom!!
-He has a serious toothbrush obsession. He always wants to brush his teeth, he has 3 toothbrushes right now and when I tell him I have a surprise for him he asks if it's a toothbrush. He was upset when I told him I threw away his yellow fish toothbrush because it was worn out. When we went camping he wanted to take two of his toothbrushes with him in case one of them got lost. I think I have rubbed off on him a bit too much!
-He always wants to carry my cellphone in his pocket so he can call and text his daddy (yes, he knows how to text. I don't know if that's cute or disturbing, the jury is still out).
-He LOVES music and loves to dance. Right now his favorite songs are REO Speedwagon "I can't fight this feeling anymore" (from Chipmunks movie), Journey "Don't stop believin" and Lionel Ritchie "Hello"
-He is super easy to please too. (examples)
Cody: What do you want me to bring you back?
Gavin: How about a rock?
----------------------
Cody: Gavin what should we have for dinner:
(we were out running errands and trying to decide where to eat out)
Gavin: How about some applesauce
----------------------
Teri: Gavin, what do you want to do with daddy today?
(we were thinking swimming, the zoo, a movie)
Gavin: Let's do a puzzle

Nothing like a 5 year old to remind you TO KEEP LIFE SIMPLE!!

MASON
Finally in a size 2T and size 4 shoes
-Mason LOVES to be outside, rides on the 4 wheeler and sleeping!! He is the first one to bed, the last one up and takes the longest naps. The only time he sucks his thumb now is when he is really tired or sleeping so it's finally starting to look better and the callus is almost gone.
-His favorite toys right now are airplanes, dinosaurs and cars. He always has one of them in his hand when he is home.
-He copies almost everything so I have to be extra careful what I say and do around him.
-He also starts dancing whenever we have music on.
-Whenever I do Chloe's hair (so she can pull it right back out) he wants to have his hair done too.
-He loves to give hugs and kisses all.the.time. now and he loves to take a bath, but hates getting out!!

 CHLOE
Nothing says future Princess like a pulled out pigtail and a finger up your nose!!!
Size 18 month clothes and size 3 shoes
-She will NOT keep her hair in anything (no bows, headbands, pigtails, etc) and she refuses to keep her shoes and socks on. If we are going somewhere I don't even bother to put her shoes on half the time until we are there because she just takes them off and if we are in a store I have to watch her otherwise I am back tracking in the aisles looking for shoes and socks she has taken off and thrown on the floor.
-EVERY animal is a "doggy"
-She empties everything she can get her hands on out: purses, diaper bags, toys bins, drawers, etc.
-If you ask her where her belly is she will pull her shirt up with one hand and smack her belly with the other one.
-Her feet are ALWAYS moving (can babies have restless leg syndrome?)
-When she puckers up to give you a kiss she sticks her bottom lip out
-She says "Hi, hello, mommy, daddy, doggy, eat, juice, cackers (crackers)", and now also says "cheese" when she sees the camera.

This Week

Monday was my brother Paul's birthday and we had a birthday lunch at Red Robin. I secretly wrote "It's his birthday today" with an arrow pointing to Paul and showed it to the waitress on the sly. He had no idea until the waitress and other co-workers showed up with balloons and sang to him. Erin (his wife) and I were in trouble until he realized that he at least got FREE dessert for his embarrassment!
My kiddos love being "baby burrito's"
Luke and Gavin think it's hilarious to stand behind Bud when he wags his tail because then Bud's tail hits their butts. They were giggling so hard and saying "Buds spanking me"
I'm not sure which got more Popsicle; his mouth or his belly!
Bud is also the honorary towel rack
 Chloe!!
 My super duper helper
 He's taking it soooo serious!! ; )
He thought he was all grown up because he figured out how I make the water fan out by putting his thumb over it
It was one of those days when I totally felt like a mean, inadequate mom and then I found Batman reading.
I must be doing something right!!
After I went to some yard sales with my dad (and scored a new computer desk and a go kart for Gavin super cheap) we went to an airplane show at Aeromark.
I had a baby shower and my Uncle Keith's wedding to go to so the kids got to play with Aunt Sadie and all the cousins. I came back to get them for the reception and Gavin wanted to stay and play, do you blame him?
Funny Faces!!
