Daddy's Week Home

Cody is gone for 2 weeks (14 days) at a time and I have decided that day 11 is my breaking point. I'm ready for my best friend to be home. I'm tired of being a single mom and not being able to go anywhere without my entourage of toddlers, tired of changing all the diapers, cleaning up all the messes and doing everything by myself and let's not forget that I get absolutely no alone time unless you count the times I'm in the bathroom "alone" with kids knocking on the door.

I keep getting asked what we do on Cody's week home. It's never the same, but here's the run down for this last week.

Sunday:
Gavin is the same way. He starts acting up around day 11, doesn't want to be a super helper anymore, wants to call his daddy all the time and starts wearing his hats. I found him on my bed in daddy's hat last Sunday night, it's always this one "the green and black deer hat".
All excited that daddy is coming home tomorrow!!

Monday:
Daddy always brings the kids home something. Gavin got a rock (what he asked for) that has a leaf fossil in it, I was even impressed. Mason and Chloe usually get cookies because that's what they love best!!

I didn't get dinner cooked before it was time to go get Cody so we went to "Festered Old Lady" (Fiesta Ole) for dinner cuz Fat Blobs (cheesy tots) were sounding good. Then we went to Reed's Dairy with Cody's family for ice cream. The kids got to see the cows, chickens, goats, sheep, and calves.

Tuesday:
Cody does not have as much patience as I do with the kids and they never keep their shoes on. He couldn't find the duct tape so electrical tape was the next best thing.

Chloe kept kicking the table and the tray (her legs are always moving) and Cody couldn't handle the noise. Silly daddy!!

That night Cody and Gavin went and got out camper from our friends house. They have lots of animals and Gavin got to milk a goat!! Cody said he was pretty shy/embarrassed to be touching the goat on it's teets, but was really excited when he figured out he could squirt people with the milk!

Wednesday:

We just mostly hung out at home and enjoyed each other's company. That night the kids went to Aunt Sadie's and Cody took me out. We went to Johnny Carino's and then to The Avengers. It was the most expensive movie I have EVER been too!! I had a ticket for a free admission, but it was too new so they wouldn't take it and the 6:30 showing we were there to see was 3D. We didn't want to go to the 7:15 because it was a school night for our sitters so we swallowed hard and paid $27.00 (big gulp) for the two of us to see the movie. No popcorn, drinks, etc included. I'm super cheap so it about killed me, but we still went and enjoyed it.

Thursday:

We loaded up the camper, got gas and groceries and headed to the mountains. Gavin was so excited. He has been wanting to go camping for months! We went to Indian Creek up by Palisades. (For more info, read next post)

Friday:

We ended up coming home early due to the rain, snow and tornado (may be exaggerating a little) that we endured while camping. The good news is we were able to go to the Temple with most of the Butikofer's for my cousin Jeremy's sealing. He was sealed to his wife Miranda and their two kids Eli and Justin. It was so amazing to be in there with so many of my relatives. One of the temple workers made the comment that the Butikofer's were taking over the temple, dang right!!!
That night we grilled some Ball Parks and corn on the cob (in the drizzling rain). Gavin loves to help Cody grill and we all love to eat what daddy's grilled!

To calm the kids down for bed Cody decided it was time for a TICKLE WAR!!
It's one of Gavin's favorite things to do with his daddy
Mason just wanted to play trucks on my leg, but then decided he wanted to join in the fun
All 3 of them ganged up on daddy. I tried to play but all Mason and Chloe wanted to do was pull my hair so I decided to sit this one out
Tickle War Champions

Saturday:

After breakfast we all ended up in the toy room and were there for over an hour just playing around.

Gavin couldn't be outdone by little sis

Mason had the bucket on his head and somehow got the handle under his chin and we had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to get it off again!! We finally did, but aren't really sure how, it just finally came off.

Saturday afternoon Cody and I took Gavin on a "date". We went to The Lorax and then to Wallace's for some ice cream.
Gavin actually got CHOCOLATE!!! He has been a vanilla dude for years. He has finally came to the dark side with his mom!!

Sunday:
We went to church and it was so nice to have help during sacrament meeting and to have Cody there with us. Then the best part was we all came home and had Sunday afternoon naps!! Cody and I haven't done that in what seems like year because one or the other of us usually has meetings/visits to do, but neither of us did, oh happy day!!

Later that afternoon we went to his parent's house for dinner with everyone and then went to some cemeteries to decorate graves. We went to Rigby to go to his Grandpa Fry's, to Milo Cemetery for some other Fry relatives and then Cody and I went to Ririe to my grandma and grandpa Blakely's graves.

Monday:

Lots of hugs, kisses and tears and we put daddy on the plane for another 2 weeks. All I have to say is I'm glad this is not a permanent arrangement!!
