Teton Dam Marathon

The girls at the surgery center created a relay team for the Teton Dam Marathon and I volunteered to be the official van driver since I would rather have my toes chewed off by wolverines than run. One of the girls couldn't race at the last minute so we recruited Chelsea to run with us.

 Fun Girls!!
Chelsea ran the first leg. I dropped her off at the bus at 5am, the race started at 6:30 and this was less than an hour later
 Our first hand off
Chelsea had never ran 4 miles in a row and ended up running up and down dirt hills, through dust and mud but was still a trooper! Way to go!

 Marilyn
Marilyn did miles 4-9
5 miles in 42 minutes

The last pass off!
Monica at the bottom of the canyon

She just had nasal surgery less than 4 weeks ago and part way through her leg she had to stop due to the intense pressure on her face. Poor thing, I can't believe she even still ran. The team stepped up and helped her out. Raini and Marilyn ran the rest of it for her and the entire team including Monica ran the last 1/2 mile together. It was so awesome seeing the entire team run past the finish line together!
 Almost here!!
 Way to go girls!!
Everyone beat their personal record/goal
I also have a whole new respect for marathon runners, it is tough!! Chelsea met a girl, Aubrey Cook, on the van and she did the entire thing by herself. We cheered her on, gave her water and ibuprofen along the way. At the end she came and hugged us all and told us Thank You. She's the one in the yellow. Turns out she is a nursing student at BYU-I so she fits right in!

So proud of you guys and can't wait to be your van driver next year!
