Labor Day Weekend

We all went camping past Kelly Canyon over Labor Day weekend. We got rained on late Friday night and early Saturday morning there was wind,rain, thunder, lightening and at one point we thought we were in the eye of a tornado because it got so quiet all of a sudden, but we all survived and that was the last of the storms.  

Chloe wanted Faith to build her a tree fort when we got there, but she got a tree fort instead. Faith even put carpet (tree bows) on the floor of it because Chloe said the dirt "was gross".

Mason borrowed Brigham's bike and learned how to ride a bike without training wheels, on a bumpy rocky road. It was awesome!
This is a terrible picture of me, but I love his little tongue. I do the same thing when I'm concentrating!

He got frustrated a few times. He would concentrate so hard on pedaling that he wouldn't watch were he was going and drive into the weeds and wreck. It made him mad and he would stand up and hit the bike for going the wrong way. It wasn't funny, but at the same time it kind of was.
This little dude wore me out!
The next day I caught him taking the bike to the road and watched him and he took off all on his own. I'm so proud of him!
And he's off! What a great view too. How many people get to say that they learned how to ride a bike in the middle of the woods?

Gavin also became a "real hunter" while we were up there. Grandpa Fry game him a gun and Cody took him out to show him how to use it and he shot a squirrel.
He seems so little and so grown up at the same time!

Cody taught him how to gut it and dress it. Cody gave Gavin and anatomy lesson was well. Cody has the heart in his hand.
Time for dinner! 

We had lots of fun as always. Cody played Phase 10 with me which is a BIG deal because he doesn't really like to play games. I "let" him win so that he will continue to play with me in the future, ha ha. The first night Gavin asked at 8:30 if he could to bed, what?!?! The first week of school must have worn him out! 

The kids played by and sometimes in the creek and on the rock bridge. Gavin got "bit" by a "ground hog", we went on lots of rides on the quads, dirt bikes and razor. Once when Gavin left to go on a ride Chloe told him, "be safe out there". She's so funny! The men were shooting targets and the kids collected the shells when they were done and showing everyone their collections the rest of the weekend. Chloe also counted to 20 for us:

I took this becasue I am so excited that we actually have a table to eat at in this camper! Our old camper had a table, but we always had it made into a bed and were never able to use it. With the bunk beds we now have enough beds for everyone so we don't have to fold our table down. : )

I brought up glow stick balls and balloons this time. The kids always have a blast with them.
I made sure that Laken was lit up enough that she didn't get bumped into, safety first!
We melted crayons in the fire, on rocks, in soda cans and then poured them into holes in the rocks. I don't know who started it, but even the adults got into it.

 Anytime you went for a ride kids would come running so you would pack them in until you couldn't fit anymore.
