Gavin and Bud
(Thanksgiving weekend)
Bud last summer over 12 years old. He was so gray.
Gavin and Bud helping me smash down the leaves in the back of the truck so we could fill it with more leaves.
After I told Gavin about Bud he went outside to say goodbye. It broke my heart to watch him sitting out there next to his best buddy crying his little eyes out. (I'm crying again just thinking about it). I don't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. This parenting thing is tough sometimes.
Before we took him Gavin drew a picture of Bud that we took with us and they were going to "bury it" with Bud. (He's really getting cremated, but I didn't want to get into all of that with Gavin and I didn't want him to be thinking about his dog getting burned).
It's been almost a week and I think today was the first day that Gavin hasn't cried, but he talked about how he wishes he was here. He keeps telling everyone that Cody and I are getting him a new dog just like Bud for his birthday (he came up with that one on his own).

I think it's great that you allowed Gavin to say his goodbye's. I think that it's good for all of us to face death from time to time because the veil is thin when people or pets pass away and our spirits feel it.
