Field Trip

The Kindergarten classes had a field trip to CAL Ranch on March 13th. I honestly laughed when I first heard about it. CAL Ranch? Seriously? I didn't get it.  I  lived on a farm when I was in elementary and so did most of the kids I went to school with so when we went on field trips it wasn't to see the baby animals at CAL Ranch because we all had those at home. We would go swimming or hiking for our field trips, but I guess that's the difference between city and country kids.

The kids did have fun though. Most of them got to ride a school bus for the first time (I ALWAYS  rode the school bus everyday for over an hour each day) and most of them had never seen baby bunnies, chicks and ducks to it was fun to see all of them so excited for so many different reasons.

We had adults at all the escape routes to keep all 50 of the 5 and 6 year olds contained while Ron (the assistant manager of CAL Ranch) told the kids chicken jokes and chicken facts.

CHICKEN JOKES:

What do you get if you cross a chicken with a cement mixer?
A brick layer

Why do hens lay eggs?
If they dropped them they'd break

What do you get if you cross a chicken with a cow?
Roost Beef

CHICKEN TRIVIA:

One of the closet living relatives to the Tyrannosaurus Rex is the Chicken

There are more chickens in the world than people

The greatest number of yolks known to be found in one egg is 9!
