Monday Morning...

When I woke up this morning my plans were to get Gavin to and from school and clean house, then, because it's a typical Monday this is what transpired:

7:00 am - alarm goes off, I get up and get ready
7:20am - wake Gavin up, Mason is already awake. Get the boys dressed and start making breakfast.
7:30am - open the curtains and see that Bud (our family dog) is not moving so I pretend to take him his vitamin to not alarm the boys so I can really assess the situation
7:35am- get my phone and go downstairs to call Cody so the boys can't hear me. I'm sobbing by the time Cody answers the phone. We decide it's best to tell him before we dispose of him so that he can say his good-bye's
7:40am- tell Gavin about Bud. He instantly starts crying and collapses in my arms. We sit and cry together.
7:50am - get the kids shoes on and loaded in the van. Take my Thing 1 wig to Liz's so her son can wear it to school for Dr. Suess Day
8:00am - Liz asks if everything is OK, I lose it again. She gave me a big hug
8:10am- take Teagan to school. Gavin is still crying so I excuse him from school.
8:25am- Sign tax papers at our accounts
8:35am-go the long way so we can drive through the "tunnel" to try and cheer Gavin up. It momentarily works.
8:45am- stop at our insurance agents so I can sign some papers for our new homeowners insurance policy (that needed to be done on Friday but I was covering a shift and then went out of town so it HAD to be done this morning) and then call my brother to see if he can help me with Bud.
9:00am-finally get home. Take Mason potty, change Chloe's poopy bum and snuggle with my crying 5 year old while we Facetime with daddy and wait for Uncle Paul
9:10am-Kenny (my brother) texts me to ask if I can take him to his appt. at noon
9:30am-Paul (my other brother)shows up and he gets Bud out of his dog house, onto the sled and into the back of the truck.
9:50am-gave the kids a snack and Gavin drew a picture for Bud.
10:00am-loaded the kids and took Bud to his final resting place, cried some more
10:15am-drove past the church and remembered I was suppose to make funeral potatoes for a funeral today
10:20am-get home and start making the potatoes
10:32am-saw a flash of light followed by a loud boom in the back yard. Lost all power in our house. Looked in the backyard and there was dead squirrel on the transformer.Crap!! No can opener, no microwave to melt butter..Call my neighbor to use her can opener and microwave (she is on a different transformer).
10:35 am-get my can and butter and head to the neighbors. Her door and gate are both locked (she gave me permission to go in). See that her dog is out so I'm trying to chase her down while packing soup and a bowl of unmelted butter.
10:50am-Finally get her dog and coax it into my backyard so she doesn't run away.
11:00am-Realize that I don't have an oven either, duh, and call Liz to see if she is home and I can use her stuff. Load the kids in the van and realize that we can't get out of the garage because there is no power to open the garage door. I don't have time to try and figure it out so I unload them and reload them into the truck and head to Liz's.
11:20am-get to Liz's, make the potatoes, toss them in the oven
11:40am-leave to get my other brother to take him to an appt. in Cody's truck which is way to large for me to even be driving!
12:10pm- get back to Liz's, get the potatoes out of the oven, load the kids and head to the church to drop them off (only 10 minutes late) and then go and get Kenny and take him back to work.
12:30pm-finally get home and start making lunch.
1:00pm-feed the kids lunch, take them potty, and clean their lunch off of their hands and faces.
1:30pm- finally get the kids down for a nap 1 1/2 hours late!!

Let's hope the rest of the day is a lot calmer than my morning was!!

What a crappy morning! I would have said, "forget the potatoes!" You're a better woman than me. So sorry to hear about your dog! That's so sad.
