Baby Cows

Last time we were at my Grandpa Butikofer's my Uncle Jeff took my kids out to see a brand new baby calf that was just born that morning. They were so excited about it. Chloe liked them as long as I was holding her and didn't stand too close to the fence. Ever since then they had been talking about the "baby cows" and asking when we could go see them again.

Of course they discovered the haystack which I wouldn't let them climb. Gavin attempted to AFTER I told him NO!! at least three times so I pulled him off and he was not happy with me and I was not happy with him. He is really testing me right now.

Life in March

I had had a particularly long day and wanted to get the kids into bed a few minutes earlier than normal so I had a little break from them. I fed them dinner and had Mason and Chloe bathed and in their clean pajamas by 6:30 so we could read stories, say prayers, etc. without rushing.  Gavin won't bath with the other two anymore because he doesn't want them looking at him so I put him in the tub after I got the kids out and dressed.
My neighbor (the crazy one) called while Gavin was in the tub so I was a little distracted trying to figure out how to get off the phone with her this time. (I can't keep pinching my kids to make them cry and you can never get a word in otherwise to say you need to go and if you "get disconnected accidentally" she will just call back or come over). When I finally got off the phone this is what I found.
Gavin and Mason (in his pajamas and nighttime pull-up) in an almost overflowing bathtub of dirty water because Gavin was wearing his "water shoes". It was so funny but at the same time so overwhelmingly exhausting. So much for my get to them to bed early plan.
They usually go to bed at 8pm, my plan was 7:45.
Actual bedtime after cleaning the bathtub and re-bathing both boys and listening to blah blah blah?

Chloe's new hat
Her ponytail after her nap
It's finally nice enough to ride bikes outside
Brigham playing balloons at Auntie Teri's
One of the many distractions I use to keep Mason entertained on the potty. I take pictures of him while he wears funny things or pulls funny faces and then I show them to him
Gavin on his birthday
Gavin buried himself in stuffed animals on his bed...
...and then Chloe stuffed herself in the basket for the stuffed animals
Chloe taking a "nap in kib" (nap in her crib)
Mason loaded his truck with all the necessities: a truck, one of his "rags" and his pen-gin" (penguin which is actually a duck)
Gavin has been quizzing me about "real pineapples" so we bought one to dissect and eat
Mason waiting
We cut up a bunch of fruit for breakfast and then tried to convince Gavin and the kids that the strawberries were really our tongues, they didn't buy it.
Chloe helping Mason put on his shoes.
Chloe can do her own shoes, socks and pants, but Mason can't/won't. I have tried to show him how, help him, teach him, but he's not interested.
Chloe still sometimes puts her shoes on the wrong feet and it makes me giggle
Gavin hooked his glasses straw to his silly straw. That's a lot of sucking for a drink.
I guess ripping up paper was just too exhausting for Chloe so she had to take a break for a nap
Mason's feet less than an hour after I put his socks on the right way
Time to go shopping
Her hair after naptime
Trying out her big girl bed

Gavin putting together his Lego man from Ella
He had so much fun doing it

Things I Want to Un-Invent

If I could un-invent three things right now, these mess makers would be on my list:
Stretchy Sticky hands that leave marks and gunk on everything they touch
Stamps
Suckers

Basketball 2013

Gavin had his first game to day (3/23) at the YMCA. He has had two practices and I have played with him some at our house, but I was so amazed at how well he did!

Warning: I'm about to brag...A LOT!! Gavin dribbles so well, made 3 baskets his first game and 9 baskets the second (he had a double header). He did awesome at getting rebounds, passing and just pretty much everything. He was even a bit of a ball hog, which we will need to work on, but I was so amazed at what natural he was.
P.S. He is #5 which was my mom's, sister's and my number in high school sports!! We didn't even plan it. : )

Getting ready to shoot
Got the rebound
This picture is blurry, but I had to post it. Look at his cute little legs!! ; )
That's him shooting the ball
Dribbling out of the crowd after getting a rebound
This is funny, he kept trying to guard his own teammates for the first few minutes of the game when they had the ball (because that's what he was suppose to do in practice)
Dribbling away
Making another basket
and another
and another.
I warned you this was a brag post!
Game 2: He did even better
Mason found a new friend, a grandpa from the opposing team.

One last basket!!

So proud of you Gavin!!

G-Man's Friend Party

Gavin had a few friends over on the actual day of his birthday. The boys made forts and the girls played dress up, they all played musical chairs (all except Gavin, he was pouting), and then we sang Happy Birthday to Gavin and ate cupcakes.
Reese, Thatcher, Ella, Gavin, Raylee
Gavin picked out the chocolate cake and blue frosting with fish sprinkles so they looked like the ocean.
The candles were trick candles and kept re-lighting. All the kids (and me) were laughing so hard.
He finally got them out
Gotta love blue frosting!!
Gavin and Thatcher
These two crack me up! You pull out a camera and they both turn into a couple of hams, I love it! These will be really fun to show them in about 10 years.
