I honestly wondered if this day would ever come especially after his last interview where there were over 1,000 applicants for 12 positions. I have a list of websites that I check weekly and if there are any potential job openings I submit Cody's resume and then let him know so that he is not caught off guard if they call. Things were not looking good. Then we ran into Cody's old boss who hired him practically on the spot and we were so excited.
Cody went out for one last rotation to North Dakota to get his things (laptop, boots, clothes, etc.), but then it was even hard. The day he got back, and before he told them he was leaving, he was promoted and got a raise that would have put him over six figures a year. I will have to admit it was so hard to give that up, but the kids and I would rather have him here.
The day that he flew home for good (April 17th) was the.longest.day.EVER!!! It just would not end. He finally made it to Salt Lake and then the plane had mechanical issues so he was stuck there for an extra hour. UGH!!!
Finally around 7pm we were headed to the airport to get him one last time.
We rounded the corner to the airport and Chloe yells out, "Daddy's work!!" I guess that would make sense to her because that's always where we drop him off and pick him up for "work." Mason just thought daddy flew around on an airplane the entire two weeks he was gone and Gavin did too until we started doing Facetime on our phones and then he realized that daddy's work was in North Dakota.
Still waiting for daddy.
As soon as Chloe saw Cody she dropped her sign and ran to him. It was so cute/sweet. Cody was slightly embarrassed we made such a big deal about him coming home and had signs, but we were just showing him how excited we really were!
Welcome Home Cody!!
