Gavin's First Primary Talk

Gavin got to give his very first talk today in Primary and he did such a great job! I whispered what he needed to say and repeated it very well especially since there were some pretty big words in there for a 4 year old! Good job Gavin! Mommy and Daddy are very proud of you!

Prophets speak for Heavenly Father

We have a living prophet today...President Thomas S. Monson. He is the President of the Church, and he speaks to us for the Lord. He was chosen by God and called through proper priesthood authority. He testifies that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and he teaches us the gospel. When we pray to Heavenly Father, we can know that the words of the prophets are true. Prophets are men who “walk with God”. They keep His commandments and are obedient to the things He tells them to do. When we hear the prophet, we will know that he speaks to us for the Savior.

Rednecks R Us!

 Cody, Teri, Cassie and Scott
We all dressed as Larry the Cable Guy and went to the Blue Collar Comedy Tour in SLC. We haven't laughed so hard for such a long time in forever! Our faces and ribs hurt from laughing so much.

HaPpY 4tH bIrThDaY gAvIn!!

My little man turned 4 this week! My how time flies. We had a family birthday party for him the Saturday before his birthday and then I took work off and we spent his actual birthday with him. Here's a recap. P.S. There are tons of pictures, but this IS currently my scrapbook AND journal.
All sports guys have stats, her are Gavin's at age 4:
Height: 3'6
Weight: 40.2 lbs (with pj's)
Eyes: blue
Hair: Light brown
(he's excited because his hair is getting dark like mine)
He is always telling us he loves us
He has his own language that he speaks and we can't understand a bit of it, we refer to it as Gavinese
Every night he stands at the end of his bed and says" Ready set go black batman and Robin and Isaiah superhero" and then jumps into bed.

Q&A: Life according to Gavin
How tall are you? Really big
What is your favorite color? Black
What is your favorite movie? Rookie (Cars)
What is your favorite food? Batman fruit snacks
What is your favorite drink? Pink juice (crystal light)
What is your favorite song? I am a Child of God
Who is your best friend? Luke, Teagan, Edge (from daycare) and Leo
Who's Leo? You know, from my birthday party  (@ Leo's ha ha)
What does daddy do for work? (Don't know the answer because it was in Gavinese)
What does mommy do for work? I don't know

Family Birthday Party @ Leo's
He wanted a "black batman birthday" with a "black batman cake". I ended up with what looked like a piece of charcoal cut into a bat. I will spare you the long process that it took me to screw up his cake, but I will tell you it was a very frustrating process. Luckily I have a wonderful husband who came to Gavin and I's rescue and fixed the cake!
Much better! Look at my happy boy!
 Mmmmm....what should I wish for?
 Must....blow....harder
 All done!
 My niece Madisen
A disadvantage to black frosting is you end up with a mouth like this! Aidyn wasn't the only one who ended up with black lips, teeth and tongue. I guess we didn't think that one out very well ; )

Gavin showing me how messy his face was (which was nothing compared to the other kids).
He wanted the chocolate cake instead of his black batman cake
Our very spoiled little boy with all of his loot!
Thank you everyone!
I made Gavin the black cape he is wearing.

 His invitation

He got Batman pajamas from G&G Fry
He wanted me to take a picture of his cape too

Gavin's "Real" Birthday - March 22
We decorate Gavin's room every birthday. We do it the night before so it's there when he wakes up. This year he came into our room and said "Why is all that stuff in my room?" I had to remind him it was his birthday!
 Peeking out his doorway
I made him a clown pancake for his birthday. I won't tell you how long it took me, but it was quite a while mixing all the colors and getting everything just how I wanted it. I thought it turned out pretty good for my first try.
I put it in front of him and he said "What is it?"
Playing Mario Kart with their capes

Playing in the ball pit @ Blast Off
(I love having a kid so I can be a kid again!!)

Daddy enjoys being a kid again too!
They have an obstacle course there and I challenged Cody to a race and I BEAT  him the first time. Then he kept going through it a lone to get a game plan and then he wanted to race again. Liz caught the finish on camera. Unfortunately for me I lost the second time and even though we essentially tied, Cody still claims he is the winner because the first time was a "practice run"
After dinner we told Gavin he could pick whatever he wanted for dessert and he wanted a cupcake. We gave him the choice of Cocoa Bean or the Cupcake Factory and he chose the Cupcake Factory. He picked the darkest cupcake there because "black is my favorite color"
I wanted to sing to him and let him blow out candles since it was his actual birthday.
All I could find to put the candles in was a hostess cupcake, but it did the job!
 Look at all that smoke!
Him and daddy having a funny face contest
We also got him a bike helmet for his birthday.
We decided to test it out and went for a very cold (it snowed that morning)
bike ride to the "yellow park" around the corner.

Utah Jazz Game

We got FREE Utah Jazz tickets (Thanks for the hook up mom) and headed to Utah (kid free, thanks for that too mom and dad) to go to the game and see some friends. We left early Saturday morning so that Cody could go to a HUGE car show with our friend Brian and while the boys were there us girls went here:

Zupas Cafe, it was soooo GOOD!

This is what I had. Every meal comes with super delicious bread and a chocolate covered strawberry. I can't remember the name of the panini or the salad that I got, but I couldn't stop eating either of them!!!

After lunch and the car show we headed to the game. As we walked into our portal I got so GIDDY and then as we walked closer and closer to the court I was even more GIDDY! Last time we went to a Jazz game we had the nose bleed of all nose bleed seats. There was NO ONE behind us, we literally had the worst seats in the entire place! Now here we were sitting in seats only 15 rows from the floor! We could hear the players! It was awesome!

Cody and I in our awesome seats!
(Thank you kind random stranger for taking our picture for us!)

Because our tickets were free we didn't feel as bad about getting totally ripped off on the food so we splurged a little...ok, a lot! Before the game was over between the two of us we consumed a jumbo hot dog, a chicken tenders basket, nachos, popcorn, a powerade and a water. It was basically our dinner and ended up being $28 total which is what we would have spent eating out somewhere half decent so I can't complain!

"The Golden Girls"
They were part of the half time show and they were pretty good, more entertaining than anything, but funny. The announcer said you have to be between the ages of 50-94 to be in their group. Combined they have 500 grandchildren, over 1200 great grandchildren and over 200 great great grandchildren. They may have been older, but then could still shake it!!

I remembered in the last minute of the game (before we knew it was going into overtime) that I should probably take a picture or two of the actual game since that is what we were there to see ; )

The final score after overtime. It was a actually a really good game. They stayed pretty close in score the entire game and we spent most of the last few minutes of the 4th quarter and almost all of overtime standing, cheering and almost chewing my nails!

After the game we went back to our friends Brian and Sally. It was so good to see them again and catch up, it's been a long time! We stayed the night at their house (thanks again!) and we headed home Sunday morning in the pouring rain, not even kidding! It rained from Salt Lake to Pocatello and the only time it wasn't a down pour was when we were driving through snow over the Malad pass! Luckily I made it home just in time to change my clothes and go teach my lesson at church!

At the Carwash, Carwash

I love watching Cody teach Gavin how to do something, it melts my heart!
Missed a spot dad!
Kind of crazy!
Cody's face from the pic above, just zoomed in. Pretty wild!

Everyday Memories

Gavin and his "Cars" cars

In case anyone was wondering this is what Gavin keeps in his Buzz
Lightyear bag...a bound up rubber chicken!!
Should I be worried?

Gavin dressed himself today...his "zoo" hat, wet suit,
and his winter boots. What a great combination!

A few other memories:

Gavin LOVED yellow (up until recently when he informed me that his new favorite color is black). He always wanted to eat off my yellow plate, yellow bowl and yellow cups. He also ate a lot of pineapple and bananas because (you guessed it) they were yellow. Now his favorite color is black and he wants a black batman birthday, loves to wear his black boots, and likes anything that is black.

I occasionally squish his butt cheeks and say "squishy cheeks", until he started doing it. We were out to ice cream with friends and Gavin ran up to Cody in public and started squeezing Cody's butt cheeks and saying "squishy cheeks" really loud. Needless to say mommy got "the look" from daddy ; )

We have a stray cat that comes to our back door occassionally. Cody hates cats and Gavin heard him call the stray a "stupid cat" so now all cats are stupid cats and he also calls his movie Aristocrats, "Stupid Cats".

"Dirty Bananas" - bananas that have brown spots on them

When I tell him to go potty before bedtime and he doesn't think he needs to he tells me "My tummy is not full yet."

He has a bumble bee pillow pet that he and Cody named Bees Wax

He loves to pretend he is a "super hero", a" black monster", a "scary tiger" and a "big dragon"

His daddy's nicknames for him right now (they change frequently) are "Turkey Bird" and "Bubble Gum Head"
